What an amazing story! Thanks so much for sharing, i can imagine the scenario playing out and it totally warms my soul.
I have the opposite reaction when i listen to worship music, i usually cry, but in a sort of holy spirit way, an overwhelming feeling of his presence. I love listening to worship music but for some reason its often the hardest choice to make to listen to, weird isn't it.

Your story reminds me of a song we used to sing growing up and a verse my mum had embroidered and hung up in the house I grew up in " As for me and my house we will serve the Lord" Its a verse from Joshua 15.

Conor, thanks for a great post! We're slightly opposite in this in that most of the music I listen to is worship music, and when I'm driving it's how I spend most of my time. Our kids love it singing to Jesus and sometimes it breaks out around the dinner table, and it's so fulfillinf hearing them express themselves and their love to God like that.

I would encourage everyone to listen to more songs that glorify Jesus in their everyday lives more often! No harm can come from it and it will bless your hearts abundantly.

As a follow on to my original blog I was again challenged to head down adventure road by Jesus's words in Mark 11:24 "All that's required is that you really believe and do not doubt in your heart. Listen to me! You can pray for anything and if you believe you will have it"

It's intoxicating to think that I can have anything, but I know, (to use a railway analogy), that kind of thinking will only run me up a siding every time. The real track to travel is the one that puts God's interests before mine

You wouldn't know that's what you thought / felt David, but thanks for being so honest.

I'm finding more and more that I tend to fall into the same patterns of sin / disobedience. In the past would plead and repent over and over again, but am now finding a greater reward thanking God for His mercy and forgiveness, which is giving me greater strength to overcome the fear that I'm prone to falling at the same hurdles all over and over. (That's not an excuse to keep sinning, as the Apostle Paul said we shouldn't! It's just an honest assessment of where I am.)

This, too, comes from pressing into Him so that we travel the same road and I honestly say, "Lord Jesus I believe, help my unbelief".

And you're doing a really great job of leading us all - no easy task, but your reward awaits you in heaven my friend.

He is! And what a lesson learned that night.

You come across remarkable stories in this life of people lost to each other and then reunited. These kinds of stories move us deeply even though the resurrection of their relationship is not a literal. It goes beyond imagination to think of the emotions that will be on display when, (because of the promise of eternal life), we are reunited with family and friends who have gone before us. praying blessing on the city has been an inspiring thing. to think that we can be such a positive influcence by simply pressing into God for our city - i wondered if we could keep going somehow - maybe as a church have a day a week where we have a prayer focus on the city. as i was praying i thought when did i last really pray God's blessing on Livingston or Edinburgh and how much our cities need our prayers. I really felt excited about taking part in this project because it allowed us as a church community to plug into something bigger than ourselves.

I started reading 2 Chronicles 20 and never really left those verses as I prayed for our city. What a great line Jehoshaphat comes away with in v20, "Believe in the Lord your God and you will be able to stand firm. Believe in his prophets and you will succeed".

How do we let God fight for us? By realising that the fight is his and not ours and by recognising our own limitations. Both of these are important, but the other thing that stood out for me was that everyone willingly took their place and were ready to do whatever God had called them to do. I felt God underscored that as I thought about all the exciting things that are happening in Edinburgh as a whole swathe of churches and ministries take their place for the sake of the gospel.

My half hour of prayer convinced me that he is encouraging us to do more and to keep on pursuing God's interests rather than their own because when we live this way we can not only ask him to help us, but he always WINS!

When I was praying I felt that God was telling us that we need to know the love of God and as we fully understand that then God's love for us will flow out of us and we will have a real love for those around us. I saw a picture of a heart and then a tree growing and blossoming. We need to love each other how Christ loves us.
