I invited my colleagues from work to our recent Carol service and both of them said they wanted to come. I was thrilled by just how ready they were to say “Yes” so you can imagine how excited I was when both of them walked through double doors of the school. I could see that for one of them that this was something outside of her comfort zone, but I could nothing more than be myself and trust the Lord to take care of things. After the service as we sipped mulled wine both of my friends said how much they had enjoyed it, but it was my nervous friends response that gave me the most encouragement. She said, “I’m really not a religious person at all and although I wouldn’t normally go to church, I do like to stay connected with spiritual things and today was a real treat. Thanks for inviting me because I loved the whole thing”. I’ve mulled over those words across the festive break because I didn’t expect them to be honest, but I know now that I can be bolder in the future and although it’s not one of my New Year resolutions I will try to be.
