Yes Lord!

Here’s a further thought on King David, (the guy I mentioned in my 'Leaving a Legacy' post). His life wasn’t perfect. The stories certainly do remind us that he was brave and heroic in many different scenarios, that he  helped those who couldn’t help themselves and that as a King he did many good things to unite his country, but he was also a flawed individual. You only have to look at his personal life to realise that and yet the speech that was given in honour of his memory in 2 Samuel:23 makes it clear that from God’s perspective David was a man of flawed beauty because throughout his life he attempted to be led by God’s spirit (cf: v2) and act accordingly.

Is that the secret behind the comment “... David... served God’s purpose in his own generation ...”. I have a sneaking suspicion that it is. Mother Theresa once said that her life consisted of getting up every morning and simply saying “Yes Lord!”

So if leaving a decent legacy is important to us maybe a reasonable prayer for us to pray is "Lord Jesus help me to live my life so that as often as I can be, I’m on the same wavelength as you"

That is a great prayer! Tuned in to what HE is thinking, saying and doing.
