Two Tuesday’s ago I woke up early feeling decidedly unwell. A few family members and friends were recovering from bouts of flu so I was half wondering if this was the beginning of a viral assault on me. However we had a church staff meeting scheduled for 9.30am which I was due to lead so I convinced myself that if I slowed the pace of the day I would probably be OK.
When folks arrived one of them was carrying a tin of freshly baked Chilli chocolate brownies. “Oh no I’m going to have to miss out”, I told myself and went on to tell the group of my predicament. “Well there’s no reason why we can’t pray that God would heal you”, one of them said, “Let’s just circle David and ask God to come”
A couple of short prayers and an hour later I was tucking into a chilli chocolate brownie and able to participate in the discussions of the day. I no longer felt rough instead I felt robust and as the day went on I only got physically stronger and stronger.
I’m grateful that God healed me, but I’m also grateful that someone took the risk of saying “Let’s pray”, because all of the gifts of the Spirit, (including healing), are given through us to others only as we operate in obedience in doing the things we’ve been taught to do.
